To enhance your Warlock abilities even further, you unlock a passive features list once you hit level 2. These passive features are called Eldritch Invocations, and new ones keep on adding later on at different levels. So, if you’re wondering how Eldritch Invocations work or which ones are considered the best Eldritch Invocations in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’re at the right place.

Key Takeaways

  • Eldritch Invocations are Passive Features that come with the Warlock class exclusively. They provide additional effects to your class.
  • To unlock Eldritch Invocations, players must reach level 2.
  • Players get two invocation points at level 2, then one invocation point at levels 5, 7, 9, and 12.
  • There are a total of 19 Eldritch Invocations in Baldur’s Gate 3.
  • The top 6 Eldritch Invocations include Agonizing Blast, Repelling Blast, Minions of Chaos, Devil’s Sight, Book of Ancient Secrets, and lastly, Mask of Many Faces.

How To Unlock Eldritch Invocations

The passive feature, Eldritch Invocations, is limited to the Warlock class only. Any other class won’t have access to these additional attributes. As a Warlock, players must reach Level 2 to unlock their first Eldritch Invocations. Leveling up to Level 2 is quite easy and will not consume much of your time.

At Level 2, players will obtain two points they can assign to one of the 10 available Eldritch Invocations. Next, the players get one additional point at Levels 5, 7, 9, and lastly, 12, which they can assign to newly unlocked Eldritch Invocations at each of these levels (or previously unlocked ones.) So, by the end, you get six available points you can assign to one of the 19 Eldritch Invocations in total.

Choosing the best Eldritch Invocations in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be confusing as there are a total of 19 of these. Here are the top 6 Eldritch Invocations Warlock players must consider selecting:

Agonizing Blast

Agonizing Blast | Captured By Us
  • In-game Description: When you cast Eldritch Blast, add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals unless it is negative.
  • Unlock Requirement: Reach Level 2 on Warlock

Agonizing Blast goes perfectly with one of the best Cantrip Spells of the Warlock Class, Eldritch Blast. This Cantrip will shoot off beams that increase in number at specific levels as your character levels up. The damage is insane itself, and Warlock players can keep their distance, taking down one enemy at a time.

To enhance the Eldritch Blast effects even further, get yourself Agonizing Blast from Eldritch Invocations. As the description says, Agonizing Blast will directly affect the beam’s damage by adding your Charisma modifier to it. Lastly, we recommend using the Hex spell alongside, which provides 1d6 damage to the enemies.

Repelling Blast

  • In-game Description: When you hit a creature with Eldritch Blast, you can push the creature up to 4.5 m away from you.
  • Unlock Requirement: Reach Level 2 on Warlock

Just like Agonizing Blast, Repelling Blast is another passive feature of Warlock that directly impacts Eldritch Blast cantrip. Since your character is a ranged hero, any threat coming closer can be overwhelming. Simply equip Repelling Blast for your Eldritch Blast skill and knock enemies away from you with each beam attack.

You can, of course, pair this feature along with Agonizing Blast and not only deal massive damage but also shove enemies 4.5m away each time.

Minions of Chaos

  • In-game Description: You can cast Conjure Elemental with a Warlock Spell Slot.
  • Unlock Requirement: Reach Level 9 on Warlock

Conjure Elemental is a spell that comes with other classes, such as Wizard and Druid. However, if you’re playing as a Warlock, you must wait till level 9; only then can you gain access to this spell, that too through Eldritch Invocations.

Once you reach level 9, select Minions of Chaos. This passive feature will allow you to use Conjure Elemental and summon an ally Minion who will fight for you within the 18m range. Minions of Chaos can come in handy if you’re in a pickle quite often. It is also considered to be the only good passive feature that unlocks at Level 9. So, if you need an additional combat buddy, get yourself this passive.

Devil’s Sight

  • In-game Description: You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 24 m.
  • Unlock Requirement: Reach Level 2 on Warlock

A great addition to your Warlock build that allows you to have a sharp eye in darkness, whether it’s coming from magic or occurring naturally. You’ll perform much better while casting spells or facing a bunch of enemies. This passive feature also unlocks quite early, only on level 2.

Book of Ancient Secrets

  • In-game Description: You can inscribe magical rituals in your Book of Shadows. Gain the Ray of Sickness, Chromatic Orb, and Silence spells. You can cast these spells once per Long Rest, and they don’t expend any spell slots when cast.
  • Unlock Requirement: Reach Level 7 on Warlock

Selecting Book of Ancient Secrets grants you access to a few more spells, which include Ray of Sickness, Chromatic Orb, and, lastly, Silence. None of these spells will take additional space in your spell slots. This passive feature will surely be a perfect match for players who love a handful of spells to cast and be creative on the battlefield.

Mask of Many Faces

  • In-game Description: You can cast Disguise Self at will without expending a spell slot.
  • Unlock Requirement: Reach Level 2 on Warlock

As a Warlock, players can obtain Disguise Self level 1 spell by selecting Mask of Many Faces Eldritch Invocation. And what makes it even better is that you won’t be using extra slots for this feature.

Players who are deeply familiar with the in-game mechanics of multiple classes are at a great advantage as Mask of Many Faces is one of the most powerful Invocations if executed correctly. Change your race temporarily and take benefit from it in various situations you’ll be facing.
