Ability Improvement

Ability Improvement – Image Credits: VeryAli Gaming
  • In-game Description: You increase one Ability by 2, or two Abilities by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • Requirement: Available at Level 4 for all Classes

The Ability Improvement is highly recommended for all classes due to its effects of improving one of the six attributes by not +1 but +2 ability points or improving two different attributes by +1 each. You can maximize these abilities up to 20 points.

You can assign ability points to turn an attribute stat even rather than odd; this will add +1 to the modifier. It’s better to choose Ability Improvement at lower levels rather than investing in other Feats.

Lucky

Lucky Feat

  • In-game Description: You gain 3 Luck Points, which you can use to gain Advantage on Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, or Saving Throws, or to make an enemy reroll their Attack Rolls.
  • Requirement: Available at Level 4 for all Classes

A must-to-have Feat that helps players in getting the upper hand if losing combat. The three luck points you obtain from Lucky Feat result in turning the tables by gaining an advantage over various mechanics in combat.

Great Weapon Master

  • In-game Description: When you land a Critical Hit or kill a target with a melee weapon attack, you can make another melee weapon attack as a bonus action that turn.
Attacks with Heavy melee weapons you are Proficient with, can deal an additional 10 damage at the cost of a -5 Attack Roll penalty. (You can toggle this on and off.)

    Class Feature
    Great Weapon Master: Bonus Attack
    Melee Attack Bonus: -5
    Melee Damage Bonus +10
  • Requirement: Available at Level 4 for all Classes

One of the strongest Feats in Baldur’s Gate 3, however, is mostly based around melee fighters. So if you’re playing with a melee damage class such as Fighter, Paladin, Barb, and so on, choosing Great Weapon Master is extremely important.

The Feat focuses only on increasing your character’s damage on Melee weapon hits. But the amount of damage it imposes is incredible; therefore, Great Weapon Master should be your go-to Feat.

Tough

Tough

  • In-game Description: Your hit point maximum increases by 2 for every level you have gained.
  • Requirement: Available at Level 4 for all Classes

If you’re looking to become more durable in battles, Tough is the one for you. The ability provides 2+ Maximum HP every time your character is leveled up. The good thing is this Feat is suitable for all class types and goes well with almost any build you’re creating.

Alert

Alert

  • In-game Description: You gain a +5 to Initiative and can’t be Surprised.
  • Requirement: Available at Level 4 for all Classes

Two benefits that the Alert Feat provides include higher Initiative and no Surprise effect. Higher Initiative means to turn the combat in your favor by letting you play the first move. Moreover, no Surprise effect on your character will save you from missing your precious turn.
