While similar in terms of uses to previous games, bleed is the current meta in Elden Ring. It is so strong that it is almost broken. With the bloody slash being arguably the most devastating ability in Elden Ring and the blood loss infliction causing loads of damage, now is the perfect time to equip a bleed weapon in Elden Ring.
Key Takeaways
Bleed weapons inflict bleed damage, with the bloody slash being one of the most devastating abilities in the game that gives high damage. Here are the best ones:
- The Uchigatana is one of the best bleed weapons, with a fast moveset and insane physical damage. It can be converted into a full bleed weapon by equipping the bleed affinity.
- The Reduvia Dagger is another one of the best bleed weapons, with quick physical damage and long-range attacks.
- Rivers of Blood is a Katana that comes equipped with bleed damage and has a high bleed damage output.
- Morgott’s Cursed Sword is a unique curved greatsword that prioritizes dexterity and arcane and is fit for dex builds.
- Hookclaws, obtainable in Stormveil castle, are powerful bleed weapons that scale with dex and bleed, have a great moveset, and can be upgraded using smithing stones,
- Each of the weapons mentioned has unique attributes, movesets, and ways of acquisition, making them viable for different scenarios in both PvE and PvP.

1. Uchigatana
Best Katana Bleed Weapon.
Why did I Choose Uchigatana?
I chose Uchigatana due to its exceptional speed, versatile move set, and the ability to transform into a deadly bleed-inflicting weapon. It is also effective in both PvE and PvP situations, which makes it a reliable choice for players.
The iconic weapon from the Souls series is one of the best bleed weapons in Elden Ring. While not directly a bleed weapon, the Uchigatana has blood counter damage that eventually leads to blood loss.
It can be equipped with the bloody slash to be converted into a full bleed weapon. With the bleed affinity equipped, the Uchigatana scaled with Dexterity and Arcane primarily.

The Uchigatana has a very sick and fast moveset that does insane amounts of damage when sufficiently equipped. Similarly, the bleed uchigatana does insane physical damage. While the damage is less than that of a normal Uchigatana, the bleed Uchigatana builds up the blood loss bar of your foes way quicker leading to insane outputs of damage.
You can start the samurai to get the uchigatana. All in all, the Uchigatana is one of the best bleed weapons, viable for all kinds of scenarios, from PvE bosses to PvP invasions.
2. Reduvia Dagger
Best Long-Range Bleed Weapon
Why did I Choose Reduvia Dagger?
The Reduvia Dagger stands out for its unique aesthetics and the combination of quick blood buildup with long-range attacks. It’s an excellent choice if you appreciate style and efficiency.
The Reduvia dagger is one of the coolest-looking weapons in the Elden Ring. Resembling a bloody bone shaped to look like a knife, this dagger certainly ticks the fashion souls mark. The Reduvia dagger deals decent physical damage quickly and builds the blood loss bar up quickly.
Since it is a dagger, its moveset is not the best. It does, however, shoot bloody projectiles with each attack and it has a very cool weapon art. It is primarily scaled with dexterity and arcane.

You can acquire this dagger by beating the NPC bloody finger Nerijus, who invades you near the Agheel Lake in Limgrave. Due to its quickness, projectiles, and bleed damage, the Reduvia Dagger is my top recommendation in this list.
Plus, its quickness and long-range attacks mean it will do the job just fine in both PvE and PvP.
3. Rivers Of Blood
Highest Bleed Weapon in Elden Ring.
Why did I Choose Rivers Of Blood?
I chose Rivers of Blood as it earns its spot as one of the best bleed weapons due to its high bleed damage, stylish special art, and involves a challenging journey to obtain it.
Rivers of Blood is another excellent Katana. Unlike the Uchigatana, Rivers of Blood comes equipped with bleed damage. In fact, staying true to its name, it is coated red.
While Rivers of Blood’s basic moveset is similar to that of other Katanas like the uchigatana and the moonveil, it inflicts the most bleed damage among any katana, making enemies get blood loss within seconds. It also has a very cool special art that resembles the bloody slash but has a combo.

You can acquire the rivers of blood later in the game by beating an Invader, Okina. Rivers of Blood has a D scaling in arcane and strength and is upgraded using Somber smithing stones. All in all, due to its cool moveset, high bleed damage, and unique weapon art, Rivers of Blood shines in both PvP to PvE.
4. Morgott’s Cursed Sword
Best Bleed Weapon for Dex Builds.
Why did I Choose Margott’s Cursed Sword?
I chose Morgott’s Cursed Sword for its specialization in dex builds and its impressive move set, making it a standout option for PvE-focused players.
Morgott’s cursed sword is one of the coolest weapons in Elden Ring, reminiscent of boss weapons in previous games that have insane moves. It is a curved greatsword that prioritizes dexterity and arcane. It looks unique and has some very original moves.
Phy | Mag | Fire | Light | Holy | Crit | Boost | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Morgott’s cursed sword is one of the very few heavier weapons fit for dex builds. It has a cool moveset that covers a lot of range. Its weapon arte does a few bloody slashes but backs them with fire.
This sword is easily one of the best bleed weapon choices, excelling PvE. I do not recommend Morgott’s Cursed Sword for PvP due to its very slow and choreographed moves. You can acquire this sword after beating Mrogott in Lyndell.
5. Hookclaws
Best Upgradeable Bleed Weapon.
Why did I Choose Margott’s Cursed Sword?
I chose Hookclaws as they stand out for their confrontational style, smithing stone upgrades, and versatility in both PvE and PvP encounters.
When coupled with a bleed affinity, hookclaws become one of the most powerful bleed weapons in the game. Hookclaws are very confrontational and have a great moveset that makes you look like Wolverine.
Phy | Mag | Fire | Light | Holy | Crit | Boost | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Hookclaws Stats Table.
You can acquire the hookclaws in Stormveil Castle. They scale primarily with dex and bleed after applying bleed affinity. You can level them up using smithing stones. All in all, hookclaws can act as one of the best bleed weapons in Elden Ring, fit for both PvE and PvP.
Why Others Were Not Choosen?
- Eleonora’s Poleblade: Has limited versatility due to its exclusive focus on physical and fire damage, lacking a diverse damage profile.
- Moonveil: Includes limited availability as a boss drop, high stat requirements, FP cost for its Unique Skill, balanced scaling, dependence on boss drops, and the absence of elemental damage.
- Winged Scythe: Has a relatively high weight of 7.5 units, potentially impacting mobility during combat.
- Halo Scythe: Has a relatively high weight of 8.5 units, affecting players’ mobility in combat situations.
- Hand Of Malenia: Has a relatively high Dexterity requirement of 48, which may pose a challenge for some players to meet, limiting its accessibility.
-
Cross-Naginata: Features relatively low base stats and scaling, making it a suboptimal choice for players seeking more powerful and versatile spear options.
-
Chainlink Flail: Exhibits limited appeal due to its mediocre attack and guard stats, detracting from its overall effectiveness despite unique attributes like the Spinning Chain skill.
-
Inquisitor’s Girandole: Its fire-focused damage might be less effective against certain enemies, potentially limiting its versatility in various combat scenarios.
What Would I Recommend?
For a well-rounded and versatile experience in Elden Ring, I would strongly recommend the Uchigatana. Its exceptional speed, combined with a versatile moveset, allows for swift and precise strikes, making it effective in both challenging PvE boss battles and intense PvP invasions.
The Uchigatana’s unique ability to transform into a deadly bleed weapon, especially when equipped with bleed affinity, ensures a dynamic and adaptable approach to combat scenarios, making it a reliable and favored choice among experienced players.
In addition to the Uchigatana, the Hookclaws prove to be another formidable option. Their confrontational style, coupled with the ability to upgrade using smithing stones, offers a customizable approach to enhancing the weapon’s effectiveness.
This, along with their suitability for both PvE and PvP scenarios, makes Hookclaws a powerful choice for players seeking a versatile and personalized bleed weapon.
