To say Elden Ring is challenging would be the understatement of the century. As beautiful as it is, Elden Ring is no joke. Today we will rank the best spells in Elden Ring, essential for every sorcerer. Best Spells In Elden Ring

As stated earlier, spells are an essential part of Elden Ring, both for pure casters and those hoping to cast a little on the side. Elden Ring has an abundance of spells, from glintstone shards that do minimal damage to full-on magic greatswords that do tons of damage and can clear hordes of enemies at once. On top of all this, there are also support spells that do stuff like buffing your weapon. While ultimately spells in Elden Ring come down to usage and builds, there are some that stick out more so than others. Here is our list of the Best Elden Ring spells:

Glintstone Shard

Glintstone Shard Elden Ring

We had to start with the iconic glintstone shard. Reminiscent of soul darts from Dark Souls, this basic sorcery can be extremely viable in a number of scenarios. With a good staff and high enough intelligence, glintstone shards will one to two-shot most drones in late-game areas without consuming a lot of FP. On top of their damage, they are also an excellent tool to avoid mobs. Whenever you see a group of enemies, you can use glintstone shards to lure a few out and pick them off one by one.

Glintstone shards can also be used as a great finisher. Often times in games like Elden Ring, you die after getting the boss down to the last shot. In such moments going back and using a glintstone shard can help you avoid a foolish death by finishing off the boss from behind. Glintstone shards are also helpful in PvP due to the ability to maintain distance and apply pressure. All in all, this simple sorcery is one of the best spells in Elden Ring.

Location and Requirements

You can purchase the Swift Glintstone shard after giving Sorceress Sellen a scroll. You will require intelligence level of at least 12.

Carian Greatsword

Carian Greatsword's logo

Carian greatsword is one of the coolest spells in Elden Ring. You basically summon a colossal greatsword that does damage equivalent to that of a real greatsword and has a lot more reach than the real greatsword. Carian Greatsword, due to its high length, can kill multiple enemies in a single combo.

Despite its power, the Carian Greatsword falls short due to the amount of time it takes to cast it. We recommend using radagon’s icon which significantly reduces the cast time. Carian Greatsword also does tons of damage if your intelligence is high which means you get to pick at bosses from afar and do tons of damage. We recommend using a carian staff to maximise the output of this and other carian Spells in Elden Ring. Overall, this is one of the best combat spells in Elden Ring.

Location and Requirements

You can purchase the Carian Greatsword from Miriel in the church of vows. It requires an intelligence level of at least 24.

Comet Azure

Comet Azure Elden Ring spell

Those of you who love sorcery saw this coming. Comet azure might just be the most overpowered attack in all of Elden Ring, not just the most powerful Elden Ring spell. Comet Azure is essentially Elden Ring’s Kamehameha spell. It shoots an ongoing beam of massive size that is powerful enough to take down bosses in a single hit.

Many have hailed commit Azure as Elden Ring’s easy mode due to how much damage it deals. The one caveat is that comet Azure requires 60 intelligence, but the wait is definitely worth it. Comet Azure is a no-brainer for pure casters and high intelligence builds in Elden Ring. It is so powerful that it almost breaks the game. Due to its telegraphed moveset, however, comet Azure is not much use in Elden Ring’s PvP. When it comes to PvE, Comet Azure is easily the best PVE spell in Elden Ring.

Location and Requirements

You can acquire this Elden Ring spell by talking to sorcerer Azure near the Hermit village’s bonfire in Mt Gelmir. Comet Azure requires an intelligence level of at least 60.

Loretta’s Greatbow

Loretta's greatbow

Loretta’s greatbow is basically the sniper of Elden Ring. It is a magic bowshot that deals considerable damage and has the most range among every ranged attack in the game. All this comes at the rise of a very high casting time but that is where Radagon’s Icon shines. Due to its high range and damage, this Elden Ring spell is best used for clearing out long range archers/annoying enemies for its high damage can clear enemies very quickly. It can also be charged up indefinitely for higher damage.

All in all, Lorreta’s greatbow is one of the best Elden Ring spells for PvE. For the same reasons as Comet Azure, Loretta’s greatbow lacks in PvP. Also, if you progress far enough into the game, you get to fight Lorretta before Melania and you get an even more beefed-up version of this Elden Ring spell that shoots multiple magic greatarrows at once.

Location and Requirements

You can acquire Loretta’s greatbow by beating phantom Loretta in Caria Manor whereas you can acquire Loretta’s mastery by beating the real Loretta in Miquela’s haligtree. Loretta’s greatbow requires an intelligence level of 26 whereas Loretta’s mastery requires an intelligence of 46.

Frozen Armament/Scholar’s Armament

Frozen Armament, an elden ring spell

Unlike incantations, spells in Elden Ring are not support heavy. However, the few support spells that Elden Ring does have can be very useful. A fine example are the buffing spells in Elden Ring. Frozen and Scholar armaments buff your weapon with freeze or magic damage. This scales with intelligence which basically means you will get a massive boost in damage for a short period of time.

While there are not many specific uses to this Elden Ring spell, the increase in damage is welcome no matter the scenario. From bosses to hordes of ads, the added damage can help kill anything quicker. On top of this, these buffs save you tons of crafting and searching looking for a freeze or magic grease. Due to its passive aid over time, buffing spells in Elden Ring are viable for both PvP and PvE. We recommend using one whenever you feel overwhelmed or are facing a boss or PvP foe. All in all, buffing spells are some of the best Elden Ring Spells due to the huge boost in damage in exchange for a minuscule amount of FP.

Carian Phalanx/Greatblade Phalanx

Glintbade Phalanx Elden ring

Phalanx spells, much like buffing spells are very viable in Elden Ring. What these spells do is that they leave mini magic blades surrounding you that can be launched and do some damage but stagger almost every human-sized foe. They also provide an added layer of comfort for they can be used as a trick to stagger enemies mid-combo and avoid potentially lethal damage.

In PvE, Phalanx spells have their use, especially when facing tough foes of your size. In PvP, however, Phalanx spells are among the best spells in Elden Ring. Rennala’s Fullmoon

Rennalas Fullmoon, the best elden ring spell

While tricky to use, Renalla’s Fullmoon is one of the strongest sorceries in Elden Ring. Its strength is apparent when you first encounter it fighting Renalla. While easy to avoid, if hit with it, this Elden Ring spell has the ability to one-shot you. Renallas fullmoon has the ability to stagger most foes while dealing massive amounts of damage.

Rennala’s fullmoon works best against enemies that are slow and tanky, with massive health pools. This is so because smaller enemies that are nimble can often avoid it while those with smaller health pools basically lead to a wastage of this Elden Ring spell’s potential unless you kill multiple in one go. For these same reasons we find it hard to recommend Rennala’s fullmoon for PvP, most enemies will just dodge and avoid it.

Location and Requirements

You can acquire this spell by trading in the remembrance of the Full Moon’s queen in at the roundtable hold. Rennala’s fullmoon requires intelligence of at least 70.

Meteorite

Meteorite, a powerful elden ring spell

Meteorite is a very unique spell in Elden RIng for it has both defensive and offensive capabilities. What meteorite does is it spawns a meteor next to you that continuously rains magic on enemies, which can both stagger enemies and cause a ton of damage. This is one of the most versatile spells in Elden Ring.

Meteorite can be very offensive when used accordingly. Using it before rushing into a group of enemies means constant stagger and damage to said enemies while you go ham and kill them one by one. In other scenarios like a duel or a bossfight meteorite can be used to create constant damage that chips away at a healthbar or to intimidate a duellist so he maintains his distance.

Defensively, meteorite can help give you a breather when overwhelmed by ads and it can keep PvP foes away letting you chug a flask of crimson tears. All in all, Meteorite is a very good spell for both PvP and PvE in Elden Ring and one of the best Elden Ring spells overall.

Location and Requirements

You get Meteorite as a reward for beating Alabaster Lord in Caria Manor’s evergoal. You will require an intelligence level of at least 30.

Carian Piercer

Elden Ring Carian Piercer, an exceptional spell

Carian Piercer is basically the straight sword equivalent of Carian Greatsword. It is an exceptional Elden Ring spell due to how quick it is and how it can do tons of damage in mere seconds, making it PvP viable too. Overall the functioning is similar to the Carian Greatsword except for the reduced damage and increased speed.

Carian Piercer is viable in both PvP and PvE and has many uses. It can be used as a sword, doing a quick combo and killing off enemies, it can be used as a quicker sword if you main melee weapon is a greatsword or similar, it can be used to cause tons of damage as a surprise in PvP and it can be used to stagger human-sized enemies with relative ease. While there isn’t much to say due to its basic nature, Carian Piercer is easily an essential Elden Ring spell.

Location and Requirements

You get this spell from a scarab in the gardens of Carian Manor. You will require an intelligence level of at least 27 to use it.

Star Shower

Star Shower Elden Ring

Similar to Phalanx spells in many ways, star shower is another Best Elden Ring spell according to us. Star Shower shoots mini balls of magic that chase enemies and deal a significant amount of damage. While easy to dodge, they can be used at a time when your opponent will not be suspecting them which will result in all balls hitting your opponent.

Star shower has many use scenarios. It can be used randomly to kill off an enemy, it can be used on anything from bosses to ads, especially because it chases enemies. On human-sized enemies and more nimble enemies, you will have to carefully use Star Shower to ensure it hits. Due to its high damage, relative quickness, and ability to track, Star Shower is a great spell for both PvE and PvP and is one of the best Elden Ring spells in our opinion.

Location and Requirements

You can purchase star shower from sorceress sellen after giving her a scroll. You require an Intelligence level of 24 to use it.
