Diablo 4 introduces five character Classes, each with its Class Mechanics and pros and cons in the late game. But the Druid Class is undoubtedly the Diablo 4 best endgame Class. This guide looks at what makes this Class ideal for the late-game and briefly overviews it and its best build.

Key Takeaways

  • The best endgame Class in Diablo 4 is the Druid Class, with its versatility, build options, offensive and defensive capabilities, and excellent Crowd Controlling Skills..
  • However, Druids lack in a few aspects, such as mobility, early gameplay, complicated mechanics, and over-reliance on Weapons..
  • Druids feature six basic Skill types: Basic, Core, Defensive, Companion, Wrath, and Ultimate. Companion Skills are unique to this Class as they summon minions to help you in battle.
  • The Druid’s unique Class Mechanic is called the Spirit Boon. In this, you can choose from 16 different buffs to access, of which you can only use a maximum of five.
  • For the best endgame build, we recommend building Storm Strike, Shred, Debilitating Roar, Poison Creeper, Hurricane, and Lacerate. We also suggest keeping Lupine Ferocity as your Key Passive.
  • As for the Gems, you should build Emerald on the Weapon, Ruby on the Armor, and Skull on the Jewelry slots.

Best Endgame Class – Druid

Druid character Class in Diablo 4.
Druids are the best Diablo 4 endgame Classes. (Image captured by us)

The best endgame Class in Diablo 4 is the Druid Class. This Class is highly versatile and offers the most build options in the late game.

For starters, Druids let you choose between four types of Skills: Werewolf, Werebear, Storm, and Earth. Werewolf and Werebear Skills are Shapeshifting Skills that let you change your form. They have good synergy with some Legendary Aspects and Passive Skills.

Storm and Earth Skills, conversely, are known as Nature Magic Skills and are great for dealing damage and Crowd Controlling enemies. Druids also feature the unique Class Mechanic, Spirit Boons, which grants you up to 5 extra buffs.

This makes the Druid Class the most versatile. When making a build, you can go for total damage, Crowd Controlling, defensiveness, single-target hits, or AoE damage. The choice is entirely yours. Here are the advantages of the Druid class in late-game and the disadvantages:

Advantages

  • Druids deal high amounts of damage in a short span. Their Core Skills are primarily directed toward dealing burst damage to enemies, often in an area. However, Druids are great for single-target burst damage too. All four playstyle options for the Druid feature enormous amounts of damage. This is what makes them the Diablo 4 best endgame Class.
  • Besides their offensive capabilities, Druids are also highly capable of holding their own in battle. They feature several Defensive Skills and other Skills that grant them defensive buffs. For instance, some Skills make Druids Unstoppable while others regenerate their HP.
  • Since Druids may Shapeshift into Werewolves or Werebears or use Earth and Storm Skills, they have unlimited build options. One build alone is not enough, and for the endgame, you can pick up several builds that deal copious amounts of damage and make you impossible to beat.
  • In addition to that, Druids also have great synergy with the Overpower mechanic. Overpower adds bonus damage to your Skills and increases with factors such as Willpower, your HP, and Fortify. Druids have Skills and Passives that let them make the most of the Overpower mechanic.
  • Some Druid builds emphasize Attack Speed, a significant theme when using Werewolf and Werebear Skills.
  • Druids also have excellent Crowd Controlling capabilities, especially their Earth Skills that inhibit the enemies’ mobility.
  • Druids are incredibly versatile. They feature both ranged and close-combat Skills, including Basic and Core Skills. And that’s not even to mention the four Skill types: Werewolf, Werebear, Earth, and Storm. This makes them highly diverse in battle and lets them deal all sorts of damage in battle.
  • Finally, Druids are the only Classes in Diablo 4 that can use Companion Skills. These let them summon minions to aid them in battle. Some of these have Passive Skills that maximize their effects in the arena.

Disadvantages

  • Druids are too dependent on positioning. Most of their Core and Basic Skills deal enormous bursts of damage, which requires strategic positioning and Skill targeting. Even AoE Skills require you to remember where you and your enemies are.
  • Although Druids are the best Classes for the endgame, getting there will be tricky as they have slow progression. You’ll have a more challenging time leveling up in the game’s early stages than in the later ones. Hence, we highly recommend checking out our Druid leveling build.
  • Since Druids have so many mechanics and particular Skill types like the Companion Skills, they are much harder to master. This is primarily why leveling them up is tricky, as they have a steeper learning curve. However, this is the most versatile Class in Diablo 4 once you’re past this.
  • Despite relying on positioning, Druids are pretty immobile and lack mobility Skills. There are a few that do grant mobility, such as Shred and Trample. But these also have caveats, such as requiring a target enemy or having absurd Cooldowns.
  • Lastly, the Druid Class has less than impressive stats and relies significantly on the Gear and Weapons you put on it. That’s why we highly recommend upgrading to Legendary Weapons as soon as possible, both for the extra power and the Legendary Aspects that come with this Gear.

Playstyle Options

Playing the Druid Class is one of the trickiest for early players as this Class has so many uses and gameplay mechanics in battle. To make things easier, you can choose from four different types of playstyles. These aren’t hard and fast but have their Skills and are easier to manage in the early game.

Werewolf

One of the two Skill types that allow you to Shapeshift, Werewolf Skills are ideal for dealing single-target damage. Werewolf Skills let you Shapeshift into a Werewolf.

As a Werewolf, you gain incredible speed and agility and can thrash through enemies individually. Werewolves mainly deal single-target damage (save for some unique Skills and Passives).

However, they also rely on Critical Strike Damage. Hence, if you go complete Werewolf for a build, stockpile on Skills that enhance the Critical Strike Chance or Damage or add more effects.

Werebear

The Werebear is a close cousin to the Werewolf. You must use Werebear Skills to turn into a Werebear. After that, you can rage through enemies and tank their attacks.

Werebears are different from Werewolves in a few aspects. First, they deal AoE damage (damage in an area). This makes them ideal for entering into enemy hordes and clearing waves.

Second, Werebears are more robust and can take more damage than Werewolves. They may be slow but can pulverize through foes and maul targets instantly.

Earth

Earth Skills are elemental Skills that use the power of earth and rocks to damage foes or grant you buffs. These Skills are primarily targeted toward Crowd Controlling enemies and ensuring they do not move a lot in battle.

Additionally, Earth Skills debuff enemies and are great for boss battles where you may need to lower the enemy’s defense. However, these skills do not make you Shapeshift. But you can pair them with Shapeshifting Skills in combat.

Storm

Storm Skills are similar to Earth Skills in that they deal elemental damage, in this case, Lightning damage. However, Storm Skills are more geared toward dealing damage than Crowd Controlling enemies.

Some of these Skills, such as Tornado, deal Wind damage instead of Lightning damage. Skills like Cyclone Armor may also be used defensively. Hence, Storm Skills are highly versatile.

Druid Skills

Like every other Class, the Druid Class has some Skills only it can use. These Skills vary from Basic, Core, Defensive, Wrath, Companion, and Ultimate Skills. Here are the Skills for the Diablo 4 best endgame Class list.

Basic Skills

SkillTypeEffectUpgrades
MaulWerebearYou turn into a Werebear and deal 20% damage to enemies.Enhanced Maul, Wild Maul, Fierce Maul

ClawWerewolfBecome a Werewolf and deal 20% damage.Enhanced Claw, Fierce Claw, Wild Claw
Earth SpikeEarthImpale an enemy and deal 17% damage to them.Enhanced Earth Spike, Wild Earth Spike, Fierce Earth Spike

Basic Skills are the Skills that cost fewer resources or none at all and may also generate resources. These Skills work as your primary attack and are less potent than the Core Skills.

As you can see, the Druid Class has a Basic Skill for each type: Werebear, Storm, Earth, and Werewolf. It’s best to use a Storm or Earth Basic Skill in your builds and save your Shapshifting Skills for your Core Skills.

Storm Strike is the best for its AoE damage. The other Skills grant modest amounts of damage, with Maul and Claw being almost the same in immediate effects.

Core Skills are your primary offensive Skills that deal massive amounts of damage or, in some cases, grant powerful bonuses.

Druids have a handful of Core Skills, one for each type, except Storm, which has two Core Skills. Depending on your build, you’ll either want to go for the Shapeshifting Skills or rely solely on the Storm and Earth Skills.

Shred deals the most damage in this regard. Close seconds include Landslide and Lightning Storm. Remember that some Passives and Legendary Aspects only work with Shapeshiftimg Skills.

Defensive Skills

Earthen BulwarkEarthSome boulders fall around you, creating a Barrier that can withstand damage equal to 45% of your base HP. Enhanced Earthen Bulwark, Innate Earthen Bulwark, Preserving Earthen Bulwark

Defensive Skills are your first line of defense against enemies. These Skills typically grant Immunity or another buff, such as Unstoppability and Fortification.

Druids have one Skill for each type. Regarding defensiveness, Debilitating Roar is the best as it reduces damage taken for some time. Blood Howl grants you an instant HP bonus.

Earthen Bulwark is similar to Debilitating Roar but less powerful. And Cyclone Armor is more of an offensive-defensive Skill rather than a purely Defensive Skill.

Companion Skills

SkillTypeEffectUpgrades
WolvesCompanionYou call upon 2 wolves to aid you in battle that deal 8% damage in bites. You can also direct them to hit a single target, dealing 110% damage.Enhanced Wolves, Brutal Wolves, Ferocious Wolves

RavensCompanionA Raven appears every 5 seconds, dealing 13% damage. You can also target a location to swarm ravens there that deal 160% damage.Enhanced Ravens, Brutal Ravens, Ferocious Ravens

Companion Skills allow you to summon a minion on the battlefield to deal damage to enemies. You can also target a single enemy with your Companion Skills. These Skills are exclusive to the Druid Class.

All Companion Skills have their perks. For instance, Ravens deal a lot of single-target damage, but Wolves can deal more damage to players in an area. On the other hand, Poison Creeper is excellent for damage over time to all enemies.

Wrath Skills

SkillTypeEffectUpgrades
TrampleWerebearYou turn into a Werebear, dealing 75% damage, Knocking Back foes and becoming Unstoppable. Knocked Back foes will take 45% more damage and also become temporarily stunned.Enhanced Trample, Natural Trample, Savage Trample

BoulderEarthYou release an enormous boulder that Knocks Back enemies and continuously deals 33% damage each time it hits.Enhanced Boulder, Natural Boulder, Savage Boulder

Wrath Skills allow Druids to deal AoE damage to multiple enemies simultaneously. These Skills have a medium cooldown and can drastically vamp your damage output.

Hurricane, Rabies, and Boulder are great for damaging several foes in an area. You should, however, use Trample if you need to escape hard Stuns or Crowd Control effects immediately. Trample makes you Unstoppable and Stunning enemies, making them more vulnerable to damage.

Ultimate Skills

SkillTypeEffectUpgrades
Grizzly RageWerebearShapeshift into a Dire Werebear. You receive a 20% damage boost that increases by 3% each second you're in this form. Each kill elongates the duration of this form by a second, for a maximum of 5 more seconds through kills. You also receive 20% Damage Reduction.Prime Grizzly Rage, Supreme Grizzly Rage

Your Ultimate Skill is a Skill that has the highest cooldown and deals the most damage or grants you the most buffs. You can only have one Ultimate Skill equipped at a time.

Grizzly Rage has excellent defensive and offensive abilities. But if you want more damage over time, then Cataclysm will take care of that for you. Lacerate is another excellent choice for striking several enemies in a short span. Finally, there’s Petrify, ideal for boss fights and Crowd Controlling enemies.

Druid Spirit Boons

In Diablo 4, every Class has a unique Class Mechanic, with Druids having the Spirit Boons. These are 16 buffs, four granted by each of the four Spirits: Deer, Eagle, Wolf, and Snake. You can only have one Spirit Boon from each Spirit active at any time, with a maximum of four.

However, if you unlock all of the Spirit Boons, you can get another slot for a fifth Spirit Boon. Spirit Boons can be unlocked in Tur Dulra upon reaching Level 15, after which monsters will begin dropping Druidic Spirit Offerings.

These Offerings can be used to unlock new Spirit Boons, with each new Spirit Boon costing 25 Offerings. Hence, you’ll need 400 Druidic Spirit Offerings to unlock all 16 Spirit Boons.

However, you’ll need to unlock all 4 Spirit Boons simultaneously for the Snake Spirit Boons. Here are all of the Spirit Boons and the different buffs and advantages they offer in gameplay:

SpiritSpirit BoonEffects

SnakeMasochisticShapeshifting Skills that land Critical Strikes will Heal 3% of your Max HP.
SnakeCalm Before the StormNature Magic Skills may decrease your Ultimate Skill's cooldown by 2 seconds (10% chance).

Deer Spirit

The Deer Spirit embodies utility and resourcefulness. These Spirit Boons grant extra Spirit and reduce the damage taken. Some even remove Control Impairing Effects. Deer Spirit Boons are ideal for getting random non-offensive buffs in battle.

Eagle Spirit

The Eagle Spirit, being a highly offensive animal, lends you Spirit Boons that boost your damage. Specifically, most Eagle Spirit Boons deal with Critical Strike Chance or Damage bonuses. However, some Boons boost your Attack Speed while others grant you more Maximum Life.

Wolf Spirit

The Wolf Spirit relies on Lucky Hit for the most part. Wolf Spirit Boons are all-rounders. They grant extra Spirit generation, Cooldown Reduction, and even Fortification. The Boons here are diverse. You should go for something you haven’t already built on your Druid.

Snake Spirit

The Snake Spirit is unique in that you’ll need to unlock all of the Spirit Boons at once rather than gradually, like with the other Spirits. This Spirit synergizes with other Skills, granting bonuses to Shapeshifting, Nature Magic, and Lightning Skills. Additionally, the Obsidian Slam Boon works exceptionally well with Overpower builds.
