Waleed has over 800+ hours spent in Elden Ring, and he knows a great deal about the game. You can put your trust in Waleed to provide you with a hands-on experience of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring, the critically acclaimed smash hit that rocked the gaming industry to its very core and invoked many a salty response from some western game developers, but I digress. In this MEGA guide, I will create an Elden Ring weapons tier list from the grades of S to D. S being the must-have/use weapons and D being essentially useless weapons that have no value to you and can be substituted for any other weapon.
Key Takeaways
- Elden Ring features 309 weapons across 31 categories.
- S-tier weapons are the best, including Sword of Night and Flame, Bloodhound’s Fang, and more.
- A-tier weapons, like Black Knife and Darkmoon Greatsword, are excellent.
- B-tier weapons such as Maliketh’s Black Blade and Golden Halberd are good choices.
- C-tier weapons like Reduvia, Helphen’s Steeple, and Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword have lower capabilities.
- There are plenty of options to build your arsenal and conquer Elden Ring.

Now Elden Ring houses an astonishing number of weapons, 309 to be exact, and many of them have unique weapon skills and intricate designs which lend very well to the fantasy setting in which the game is based. With that being said, I will not be able to cover every weapon in this guide, so I will only include weapons with a rating of C or above, as anything below this would be not worth mentioning. Keep in mind, this is a Tier List, for best Elden Ring Weapons, I have narrowed 15 of these.
S-Tier
Sword of Night and Flame
The Night and Flame sword is the game’s most famous cheese weapon. It helps beat tough bosses and areas quickly, but some may lose respect for you. Still, it’s legit. Find it in Caria Manor, locked room behind gardens, accessible via walkways above from Chapel building in the west.

Bloodhound’s Fang
Early game, many players favor a weapon with “Bloodhound’s Finesse” skill for mobility. It lets users slash upward and flip away from foes, ideal for creating distance and experiencing weapon mobility.
It is dropped by Bloodhound knight Darriwil in Limgrave.

Hand of Malenia
Her weapon is notorious, surpassing even Dark Souls 3’s Nameless King in difficulty. Belongs to Malenia, the Goddess of Scarlet Rot. Features “Waterfowl Dance” skill – a combo of slashes and healing on hits. Acquire it by trading Remembrance of the Rot Goddess at Roundtable Hold with Enia.

Rivers of Blood
The most used katana in bleed and blood builds. Although it is used for a reason, it’s highly effective at what it does. It is the best and most aesthetic-looking weapon to abuse the bleed mechanic within Elden Ring. That is why it is on the Elden Ring weapons tier list alongside its amazing weapon skill. The skill basically launches a flurry of attacks formed from cursed blood, this is known as Corpse Piler and is very good at inflicting bleed onto enemies. It is worthy of being on the S-Tier.
It can be found after defeating Bloody Finger Okina at the Church of Response.

Moonveil
Right next to the other katanas we have Moonveil. A katana with similar abilities to the Dark Moon Greatsword, except for the exterior, is quite plain-looking. However, the real beauty of the weapon shows when you activate the weapon skill Transient Moonlight. When activated you sheath the blade and stand in a stance, when you input the command again you will slash and a wave of light will fire off dealing massive amounts of damage.
You can find this in the Gael Tunnel in Caelid after defeating a Magma Wyrm.

Icerind Hatchet
At first glance, it looks like an average ice axe but on closer look, it’s actually very good, and there is a reason all the speedrunners are using this weapon. The weapon skill is called Hoarfrost Stomp and this skill spreads a trail of ice along the ground which then explodes dealing damage and the frost effect onto enemies hit. The Icerind Hatchet is really good for spamming and instantly chunking health off of bosses and dealing with a large group of enemies.
It can be found in the Temple Quarter, inside the ruined bell tower.

Prince of Death’s Staff
The best staff in the entire game. It has no particular weapon skill which means it can be equipped with any Ashes of War but the most important part of this staff is the empowered death sorceries. Death sorceries such as ancient death rancor are among the highest DPS abilities in the game and they also stun enemies on successive hits, making them quite good.
This staff can be found within a tower near the Deeproot Depths site of grace.

Black Knife
The Black Knife dagger breaks dagger norms with extended range and agility. Its standout feature is “Blade of Death” skill—a dramatic move where you leap, spin, and launch a scarlet rot projectile. This skill reduces the target’s max HP and inflicts ongoing damage, making it effective against high-HP foes, ideal for tank-busting.
You can get your hands on it after defeating its wielder at the Sainted Hero‘s Grave in Altus Plateau.

Dark Moon Greatsword
The Moonlight Greatsword, a classic FromSoftware weapon, returns. Its stunning appearance conceals its iridescent green hue, visible when using the “Moonlight Greatsword” skill—a powerful moonlight beam. It’s renowned for its history and high damage with the right build. To find it, go to the Cathedral of Manus Celes after getting the Dark Moon Ring and show it to Ranni the Witch.

Meteorite Staff
Excellent staff to use for early to mid-game. The Meteorite Staff also does not have any particular weapon skill making it susceptible to change according to your need. It does, however, empower gravity sorceries such as rock sling. The staff also offers low FP cost spells that can stun enemies and allow you to get some good damage in without getting too damaged.
It can be obtained in the swamp near Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Caelid.

Azur’s Glintstone Staff
Used by strictly one-trick cheese builds mainly. We have seen the sword of night and flame but imagine that empowered by 100x over in a much shorter time frame. The special part about the Azur’s Glintstone Staff is the passive ability to empower all sorceries cast with it while increasing their FP cost slightly.
You can find this staff in the Raya Lucaria Academy.

Parrying Dagger
The Parrying Dagger is crucial for skilled players who master the parry mechanic, vital in both PvE and PvP. Parrying counters weapon skill spammers. Buy it from Patches or Twin Maiden Husks. Infuse it with any Ashes of War; Bloodhound’s Step is a standout choice for its style and effectiveness.

Like the Black Knife, it reduces enemy HP and inflicts ongoing damage. Trade it for Remembrance of the Black Blade with Enia at the Roundtable after defeating Maliketh the Black Blade in crumbling Farum Azula.

The hammer of judgment, wielded by Radagon of the Golden Order, stands out for its user’s style. “Gold Breaker” skill launches the user into the air, then crashes down, causing area-of-effect explosions. Golden Halberd
This weapon is used by the first boss we encounter, the Tree Sentinel in Limgrave. The halberd is quite a good weapon to use as it has a considerable amount of damage and range which is quite nice early on in your journey. The weapon skill for the Golden Halberd is quite simple as it only adds some attack damage buffs alongside some defensive buffs for you and any allies present. It is called Golden Vow and fits the knight aesthetic splendidly.

Reduvia
The Reduvia dagger stands out with its range compared to typical daggers. The “Reduvia Blood Blade” skill shoots arc-shaped blood projectiles, handy for exploiting Elden Ring’s bleed mechanic. Acquire it by defeating Bloody Finger Nerijus.

Coded Sword
On the surface, this is nothing but an ordinary blade with a unique design but it’s so much more than that. The weapon skill is called Unblockable Blade and it does exactly as advertised. It launches a strike toward the opponent that cannot be blocked by any shields or armor. Its usefulness is shown more in PvE than PvP as the latter is more fast-paced and offers less opportunity for wind-up attacks.
It can be obtained in an abandoned horse stable with a broken round table in Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Moving on to something more menacing looking we have this blade, the Helphen’s Steeple. A greatsword with looks that can kill and an edge just as sharp. The weapon skill on the Helphen’s Steeple is just as menacing as it looks, the skill is called Ruinous Ghostflame and upon activation it sets the blade ablaze with a black flame that does magic damage and applies frost to all enemies struck, symbolizing the freezing flames of the Norse hell.
You can get your hands on this greatsword through a Tabia Mariner on a ledge south of Castle Sol.

Quite the fashionable accessory while simultaneously being a semi-useful blade. It has a very aesthetically pleasing design and interesting weapon skills to boot. The weapon skill is called Establish Order. It emits a golden aura from your body, and spamming the weapon skill will emit multiple explosions of this golden aura. The Golden Order Greatsword exemplifies the holy aspect of Order and how it is both strong and explosive.
You can collect this weapon in the Cave of Forlorn through the Misbegotten Crusader.

I’m an avid gamer turned content writer, my hobbies include but are not limited to different forms of content creation. Not a complicated person, I play games and write about them. Currently attending university for Data Sciences. My favorite past-time is trying to different challange runs of Soulsborne and Souls-like games in the goofiest way possible for my own amusement.
