Final Fantasy 7:Intergrade - State of Play

Final Fantasy 7: Intergrade Finishes Off the Night | State of Play

The final game reveal of this State of Play might have seemed like a surprise to some – and it definitely had some quirks.

The last trailer we saw tonight was for Final Fantasy 7: Intergrade. This will be an update of the long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 remake that came out last year, rather than the next step in Cloud and crew’s journey through Midgar.

It’s a Playstation 5 exclusive that will allow players to carry over the saves from the PS4 version, which feels a bit lacklustre given how long we waited for this remake in the first place.

But don’t worry, it’s not all bland news. We also get a fancy camera mode, complete with filters, so we can feel like we’re back on a certain boys’ weekend road trip. There will also be improved wait times, which is always a small but enjoyable upgrade. And the graphics will obviously get an update. Although it certainly looked nice, the the new graphics definitely looked smokier. It looked really smoky. There were some truly beautiful moments like Tifa and Barrett looking over the city at sunrise, of course. And they made sure we knew Cloud looked better in his cute little dress than ever before.

But the biggest, most important update is for anyone who was nervous they wouldn’t get to see Yuffie, what with her being an optional member of your team in the original game. She’s been added to the roster and she’s just as cute as we had ever hoped. In the trailer, we get to see Yuffie engage in some crazy, intense combat, do some epic climbing, and just be her charming self.

Hopefully the inclusion of Yuffie means we get an updated version of her theme song, Descendant of the Shinobi.

This update will come exclusively to the PS5 on June 10th of this year.
