Table of Contents
It might seem like that Sommie’s purpose in the game is to please gamers by looking cute. However, there is more to it than meets the eye. You can interact with it in different ways and also get rewards for it as a result.
In this Fire Emblem Engage sommie guide, we will cover all that you need to know about it, from who sommie is to how to use it properly.
So, without any further ado, let us jump right into it.
Sommie is a guardian spirit of Somniel
It can be found in a cave-like area located in the southern region of Somniel. This area is unlocked only once you have progressed a little further into the game.
You can interact with sommie in three ways: dress up, pet, or feed.
Sommie will reward you with Bond Fragments or Spirit Gems when you feed or pet it.
Who Is Sommie?
As we mentioned before, sommie is this cute little adorable dog-like creature. It is a guardian spirit that wanders around the floating island of Somniel. You will come across it shortly after completing chapter 6. Even though Vander does not know much about this creature himself, you will receive most of the information about it from him when you first interact with Sommie.
Vander will tell you about sommie a little bit and let you know that Queen Lumera used to play with it in her younger years. This indicates that sommie has been around for quite a while now, as your mother in the game has been as well.
Anyways, Vander will hint towards you taking care of sommie, as it might be advantageous for you, by saying, “If it is truly the guardian spirit of Somniel, doing so may bring some manner of benefit.” Eventually, your character in the game will decide to do so happily.
At the end of the dialogue with Vander, you will get the opportunity to name this adorable creature whatever you want. Choose wisely because you will not be able to change it later.
Location of Sommie in Fire Emblem Engage
Sommie’s shrine is located in the southern region of Somniel. To make things crystal clear for you, we have attached an image down below of the map and the entrance to the shrine. Something that you should know is that this area of Somniel is unlocked only once you have advanced a little further into the story.
Anyways, once you get there, head into this cave-like area shown above, and you will come across sommie’s shrine to your left there. All that you need to do now is interact with it, and a dialogue will ensue that has been discussed briefly in the previous section of this guide.
Now that the basics are out of the way let us talk about how to use Sommie properly.
How To Use Sommie
Once the dialogue between you and Vander comes to an end, you will be able to interact with sommie. There are three ways that you will be able to do so, and they are enlisted down below:
The first two options, “Feed” and “Pet,” can be particularly useful as they can result in you getting rewards. These rewards are Bond Fragments and, on occasion Spirit Gems. Both of these rewards can be given to your allies as gifts, and we are pretty sure they will be ecstatic about receiving them as well.
Something that you should know is that sommie only gives two rewards in between each battle. Getting the second reward is quite a task and knowing how to interact with sommie is of the utmost importance. Therefore, if you play your cards right, you will likely receive both of the rewards that sommie has to offer.
The option of “Dress Up” does not result in sommie giving you rewards, but it is still very important. Why, you may ask? Well, this cute little creature has to look cool now, does it not? Therefore, make sure to dress up sommie however you would like to.
If we talk a little about feeding sommie, it will literally eat anything that you give it. However, it does prefer some foods over others, and some are also a no-no for him. Even though you will realize whether sommie likes the food that you fed him or not based on its reaction, we have compiled a list of foods that he likes, dislikes, and loves down below.
By the way, if sommie whimpers, then it means that he did not like the food that you fed him; if he barks, then it means that he liked the food; and if he both jumps and barks, then it means that the food was an absolute treat for him.

Once you have fed sommie, it will reward you with bond fragments.
The next thing that we will be talking about in our Fire Emblem Engage sommie guide is the option of petting. As in the case of feeding, you will also be rewarded with either bond fragments or spirit gems for petting sommie.
Something that you should keep in mind before petting is that highly unlikely that you will be rewarded with the second gift on petting it the first time if you have already received the reward from feeding it. Therefore, you need to stay persistent and keep on petting it till it rewards you with the second gift as well.
Before we end our guide, something that you should keep in mind is that your bond with sommie will not stay maxed out. Therefore, to make sure that it does not decrease, feed and pet on a regular basis. In addition to that, sommie will also help you in the fishing mini-game and flying mini-game.
In the fishing mini-game, it will shorten the time span in which you catch the fish and also help you in catching bigger fish. As far as the flying mini-game is concerned, it will help you in bringing down the targets, and this will eventually increase the rewards that you receive at the end.
With that, we reach the conclusion of our Fire Emblem Engage Sommie guide. We told you that there was more to sommie than meets the eye. Hopefully, you enjoyed reading this guide.
