Muspelheim In God of War Ragnarok is among the nine realms of the game’s universe, albeit small compared to others. You will first visit this place with Atreus alongside Thor. During this, you won’t be able to interact much with the environment, which will stop you from gaining any collectibles.
Key Takeaways
- There are a total of nine realms in GOW Ragnarok, including Muspelheim.
- Muspelheim contains a lot of challenges and collectibles necessary to complete multiple favors.
- Completing all the challenges provides excellent rewards and a 100% completion rate.
What is Muspelheim in God of War?
The second time you will find your way here will be with Atreus and Kratos during the Summoning Main Path questline. Now you will be able to roam freely and spend your time looking for all the valuable loot and challenges that will spice up the game even more.
You can explore multiple areas in Muspelheim so let’s go through them individually to see what each one contains.
What lies in Muspelheim?
For being such a small place, Muspelheim contains multiple collectibles to add to your inventory and challenges for you to face.
The Burning Cliffs
Starting off, we have the Burning Cliffs in Muspelheim, that as the name suggests, are land filled with volcanic eruptions. If you are not cautious around here, you might slowly be drained of your HP from the lava. The Burning Cliffs are home to numerous objectives so let’s dive deeper.
Legendary Chest
To access the legendary chest, run straight from the mystic gateway once you arrive. You will find your way broken. Thus, you will have to jump over the gap and grapple down the right-side cliff. Once you grapple down, keep going right of the gap until you spot a cave. Make your way inside, and you will find a Legendary Chest.
Odin’s Ravens
Odin Ravens are found throughout the various areas of the game. You have to slay these ravens to the Eye of Odin achievement and unlock the chest at the Raven Tree. There are a total of 48 ravens in total, one of which can be found here. If you look right of the chest, you can spot a raven chilling on top of a rock in a puddle of lava. You will have to kill it with your axe or blades,
Nornir Chest
Another thing that you can find in Muspelheim is a Nornir Chest. On the left of the legendary chest, you will be able to spot a gap. Make your way through the opening and take a left. Then walk across the ledge found under the lava fall. Follow along until you can spot a weak spot below on the right. Spear through that to reveal a Nornir chest. Now, all that’s left is to find the runes.
You can find the first rune brazier by going upward on the right side of the chest. Afterward, face the chest, and you will be able to see the other two runes perched up in front of you. You will have to use your blades and a charged sigil to get them. You can hit the second rune with both of these things, and it will break; however, the third rune is a bit challenging.
Firstly, launch the sigil so that it lands between the runes. This will cause it to stack. Moreover, you can confirm if it’s stacking as runes will now have a pink hue-ish glow. Now, make your way to the runes’ left and add two other stacks. This will allow your chains to break and give you the chest reward. The reward will be an Idunn Apple.
Remnants of Asgard
The Remnants of Asgard can be found in Muspelheim as well. Once you have completed the main storyline, make your way to the Burning Cliffs. You will be able to spot it in the middle of the cliff inside that arena. If you can’t find the arena, it’s beside the Nornir Chest.
Story
Once you get the Remnants of Asgard, look around you. You will be able to spot some glowing runes to the left of the temple’s entrance. Interacting with them will provide you with the Valhalla Rises Rune Read.
Surtr’s Forge
Surtr’s Forge is another central point in Muspelheim that contains one collectible for you.
Odin’s Ravens
You can find another of Odin’s ravens here. All you have to do is follow the steps mentioned. Take the zip line to the Surtr’s Forge and make your way to the top of the ramp. This will take you to the place where you initially met him. Once there, look around the ruins. You will be able to see a raven perched somewhere that you will have to slay.
The Crucible
The Crucible is the next main area, God of War Ragnarok Muspelheim. It is on the left side of Muspelheim. This area contains several objectives and the infamous crucible trials. So without further ado, let’s get into them.
Nine Realms in Bloom
Firstly, you can access a part of the Nine Realms in Bloom quest. For that, make your way to the ledge in front of the mystic gateway and jump down. Take a right from Brok’s Shop and continue forward. You will find the Ashepetal there, which is necessary to complete the Nine Realms in Bloom quest.
Nornir Chests
You can find the Nornir Chest in the pit of the Brok’s Shop. As usual, the chest will require you to unlock the runes. To do that, you will have to complete the infamous Crcucible Trials. There are six crucibles challenges in total. Completing two opens one rune. The six trials are as follows:
- Weapon Mastery
- Flawless
- Ring Out
- Feed The Rift
- Population Control
- King of the Hill
Completing these trials will unlock the chest and reward you with a Chaos Flame.
Crucible Challenges
Even though the chest only requires you to complete six challenges, there are others as well. There are nine other trials which are better known as the Final Challenges. You can find the first three challenges in the same crucible room among those nine. However, you must complete the previous trials in a particular order to unlock the rest.
The hint of what order to follow lies in the floor you stand upon. Thus, looking down near the central Crucible blade hilt, you can spot circles with blue, glowing runes. Each activated rune tells which trials you have to do. Match the rune with the crucible room and complete the trial inside. For instance, if you can see the runes H and R in the circle, head to the H room first. This has to be done in a particular order, so make sure you don’t mess up.
Head to the H room and clear three challenges within it. Then make your way to the R room and repeat the process. Afterward, return to the main area and interact with the hilt to initiate the Final challenge.
The Final Challenge has nine challenges for you to complete, and they are as follows:
- Rampage Challenge
- Health Steal Challenge
- Kill Fuse Challenge
- Phantom Challenge
- Endurance Challenge
- Boss Rush Challenge
- Shield Breaker Challenge
- Ring of Fire Challenge
- Onslaught Challenge
Defend Your Valor
Once you have completed all the crucibles challenges, head back to the arena in front of Brok’s shop. You can spot a new crawl space on the right which will also be highlighted with a question mark on the map. Make your way through the gap and grapple forward to initiate a boss fight. You will face off against the Gna, the Valkyrie, as part of the Defend Your Valor favor. She can be a tricky opponent to defeat, so stay on your toes.
Even though it might be hard, defeating her is pretty rewarding. You get the Queen’s Armor for Freya, the Rond of Obliteration, and The Queen’s Roar Runic Summon as rewards for slaying her.
Conclusion
These are the collectibles and challenges that you can do in God of War Ragnarok Muspelheim. All of these must be fulfilled if you are aiming for that 100% completion rate. Moreover, this will make you one step closer to a strong build.
