Kena: Bridge of Spirits Looks Like a Movie You Can Play
You know a game’s going to be good when you’re getting emotional over the trailer. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is one of a handful of trailers people were most looking forward to at today’s State of Play, and Ember Labs did not disappoint in its delivery.
The world of Kena: Bridge of Spirits has always looked beautiful and mysterious, the characters and critters adorable, and this time around the trailer really touched on the darker side of the game… which still looks like a Dreamworks movie. Wielding a staff and meditating with cute creatures are only part of what makes it look awesome.
We get to see some gameplay this time around, from floating platforms to some side-climbing and a handful of intense-looking third-person battles.
Near the end of the trailer, our young protagonist puts on what will be the first of two fox masks we will see throughout this event, looking all kinds of serious while she does.
And then we get a look at the phenomenal animation in what starts out as a cutscene. Then there’s a glimpse of a tree/canine-looking boss in the last moment of the trailer. There’s a quick sequence showing the action – how can a game that started out looking so cute get so menacing so fast?
