PS5 Restock In Tokyo Entices MASSIVE Crowds to Storm Local Store
Yodobashi Camera electrics megastore in Akihabara had a new shipment of PS5 Restock to combat the shortages in Japan.
Unsurprisingly, it seems as though the store was not at all anticipating the unprecedented level of enthusiasm. All hell broke loose, and gamers stormed the store in to get their hands on the new console.
According to the same customer, the chaos was apparently not at all predicted, and too much for the retailers. Which has led to the sale being cancelled entirely.
Why did this happen?
According to several reports, the store seems to be one of only two Yodobashi Cameras stores in Tokyo that doesn’t require the retailer’s black credit card in order to purchase hardware.
Moreover, the policy seems to be in place in order to thwart resellers. Not requiring the special card has encouraged people to storm the store at an increased rate.
PS5 Restock Tragedy
The PS5 has launched back in November of 2020. However, the console has been in shortage ever since around the globe, and especially in the US and Japan. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Amazon listings for the PS5 here.
Tragically, AMD has recently indicated that the shortages of PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC chips can be expected to last up until the 2nd half of 2021.
