Resident Evil 4 Remake: Mendez False Eye [Guide]

The game has many vital items and treasures that are equally helpful. The false eye is also one of those items that can be obtained in chapter 6 of Resident Evil 4 Remake after the Mendez boss fight.

Mendez False Eye

The False eye is an artificial eye made with ceramic that Mendez wears in the game in his left eye socket.

How To Get?

To get the Mendez False Eye item in Resident Evil 4 Remake. You need to defeat Mendez in a boss fight in chapter 6. At the start of Chapter 6, When Mendez is chasing you, you can only run as bullets would do no damage to him. After you successfully flee from the angry villagers and toggle the cut scene where you get away from Mendez, you will end up near the boss fight location. The boss fight would occur in a wooden building called the slaughterhouse.

The Merchant would be outside that building, so stock up on your supplies to prepare for the fight. Having spare knives and health supplies with you is essential before entering into a battle with Mendez.

First Mutation 

After the Mendez jumpscare, Leon would shoot a barrel, causing an explosion near Mendez. This exposes the first mutated form of Mendez, where he grows in height while having a body like a centipede.

In his first mutation, Mendez will throw a lot of different attacks at you. He might lunge at you to deliver some damage or grab you prompting a knife to click the button to escape his grab. 

Whatever he throws at you need to dodge and evade it to save your health. You can climb to the above floor using the ladder to get a better angle to shoot at him. There are also herbs and ammo that you can find on the floor above after breaking the crates open. Mendez has a weak point at the back of his body: an eye.

You can shoot him in the eye to deal more damage to him. The other weak points are his head and the centipede-type body connecting his torso with his legs.

Keep giving him damage to stun him and complete the melee prompt pop-up, which appears after you have stunned him. After some time, when you have dealt enough damage. Mendez would break his legs off, revealing his second mutation. 

Second Mutation

In the second mutation, Mendez would Grow two scorpion tails. He would then start to dangle from the ceiling close to you and also jump to a place far from you. In this phase, when he is far from you, it is better to deal damage to him with a rifle. When he is far, he will try to throw objects at you when he throws wooden spears covered in flames. Avoiding them by running left and right to prevent their projection is better.

He might throw one spear and the other after that, or sometimes he throws both at once, so it is essential to focus on his attacks. Now when he picks up the barrels, You have to destroy them in his hands before he throws them at you to deal a good amount of damage to him.

Also, in his second stage, He lunges close to you to deal damage using his scorpion tails. When he does that and is close to you, it is best to evade incoming attacks and use a shotgun to damage him.

Reward

After you have defeated Mendez, his last cry of help would be to lord saddler, after which he would drop down his head, and his eye would pop out of his eye socket and roll over on the ground. You can now pick up the Mendez False Eye from his corpse and run out of the burning slaughterhouse.

Use

Many critical items in the game work to solve your puzzles or get you to precious treasures. However, this item seems like an item that will help you unlock something or solve a mystery. Sadly it is just for sale. No quests need this item to progress through them, and the only use this item serves is to hold value so it can be sold.

After you have obtained the Mendez False Eye, go to any Merchant location near you and sell it to him for 12,000 Pesetas.

In conclusion, although it is surprising to see that this item does not hold a key reason to be obtained. It is a boss drop, and the boss must be beaten to progress through the game’s main quest line. So if you are already going to beat him anyway, why not pick the Mendez False Eye boss drop item up and sell it to the nearest Merchant to earn you some Pesetas? You can use this money to upgrade your arsenal of weapons further or buy necessary items for your journey.
