Resident Evil 4 Remake Pest Control [Guide]

Resident Evil 4 Remake is quickly becoming one of the best survival horror games of 2023 and has much to offer regarding side activities. Mainly you get the side activities from Blue Notes stamped onto walls and the various Merchants scattered throughout the map. One of these activities includes a line of requests mainly labeled RE4 Remake Pest Control questline. In this guide, we’ll show you how to complete it.

Pest Control Quest

The RE4 Remake Pest Control questline is one of the easiest to complete and brings many valuable rewards when completed. You’ll have to complete three main requests to get a total of 9 Spinels in the game. These Spinels can be spent on upgrades and items from the merchant’s shop.

The first request is called “Pest Control” and occurs in Chapter 2 of the game inside the Abandoned Factory. You’re tasked with exterminating three rats roaming around in the Factory and carrying diseases that could’ve infected the workers. Once completed, you’ll be rewarded with 3 Spinels. 

The second request is “More Pest Control” in Chapter 9 inside Salazar Castle. Like before, you must eliminate three rats infecting a small castle area and ruining their books. Also, you’ll be rewarded with 3 Spinels once it’s completed.

The third and last request is called “Even More Pest Control,” in Chapter 14 in the Waste Disposal area. Like before, you’ll have to eliminate some rats, but the number is four this time. You’ll also be rewarded with 3 Spinels upon completion.

The first request is relatively easy to complete without external help, but the other two can be difficult if you don’t know the rats’ locations. So please read below to find out how to complete them and where to find all the rats in the game. 

Pest Control Requests

Now we’ll give you a step-by-step way of completing all the RE 4 Remake Pest Control requests in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. 

Pest Control

In Chapter 2  of the Resident Evil 4 remake, find the Blue Note outside the Abandoned Factory to activate the Pest Control mission. It’s on the metal tank close to the Trader. You must find and wipe out three rats that have taken residence in Abandon Factory.

The rat will bite the dust from a single shot of a handgun, but the players can stab them, as well, to save some handgun ammunition.

1. The first rat is in the northwestern corner of the Factory in the hoo-shaped hallway.

   

2. The second rat is in the Abandoned Factory’s primary room, close to the windows. It would be best to climb the window to arrive at the long hallway. You can see it before jumping through the window.

   

3. The final rat in the Abandoned Factory is near the center of the main room. The rat will run in circles directly in front of the brick furnace. It would be difficult to see; however, look out for the scrabbling sound they make.

   

After dealing with rats, return to the merchant to get 3x Spinels. The Spinels can be exchanged with the merchant to unlock valuable things, such as the Laser Sight attachment, a Yellow diamond, treasure maps, herbs, and more.

More Pest Control

As Leon clears his path through Salazar’s Castle in Chapter 9, he will find another Pest Control request near a door in the Great Hall of the Castle. 

Like before, you have to locate the three rats and kill them. 

1. The first rat is situated in the corridor before the Dining Hall, where you will find the request. The rat will run away from you, but you can find and kill it if you hear carefully.

   

2. The second rat is tracked down in the passage before the Arsenal. From the great hall, head through the entryway on the lower area to the left side. This corridor will be a piece hazier, and you’ll have to find the rat with your torch. While it will run away from you once you enter, it will be trapped in the lobby and unfit to pass through the way to the Arsenal. All rats make a clamor, so if you don’t see it from the start, stand by and tune in, and you’ll find it.

   

3. The third rat is significantly harder to find and will not be available until Chapter 10. While playing as Ashley, you’ll go through the corridors around the Library and run over the rat, yet you will not have the option to kill it until you can play as Leon. After liberating Leon from the cage, Chapter 10 will begin, and you can freely wander the Great Hall area and the Library, where you can find the rat and kill it.

   

Once the request is made, you can speak to the Trader to get 3x Spinel and choose to save it or spend on upgrades.

Even More Pest Control

Resident Evil 4 Remake’s third and final Pest Control mission is started in Chapter 14, situated in the Island’s Waste Disposal area. After reaching the cargo depot, there is a room here with a trader. You can find the note on the machinery to one side of the entryway before you exit the cargo depot. Once you have the quest, you must find and kill four rats in the area. 

1. The first is going around in the Foyer, where y you saw the Ganados arise to snatch Ashley.

   

2. To kill the second rat, first, you need Ashley to raise the bridge. After passing the bridge, you’ll see it’s across the bridge in the right corner.

   

3. Head through the office and around to the walkway. You can track down one more rat on the catwalk here.

   

4. There’s a final rat near the power switch in a similar region as the last. 

Kill the four rats however you want and return to the merchant. Completing this quest will remunerate you wit  3x Spinels.

The RE4 Remake Pest Control questline is a great way to get your hands on a few Spinels that you can spend on various valuable upgrades and items.
