Resident Evil 4 Remake stays true to the original’s love for puzzles and riddles, and the locked cabinet code is proof of that. In the game, players will come across a locked cabinet in the Village Chief’s Manor that contains valuable loot.
However, players need to find the correct code combination to unlock the cabinet. Here’s everything you need to know about the locked cabinet in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
- The cabinet code is needed to open the Village Chief’s Manor locked cabinet in Chapter 2 of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
- You will find the code in the holy book on the upper story of the manor.
- The code is Crop, Pig, and Babe from left to right.
- Inside the cabinet is the Crystal Marble.
- The marble opens the locked room up the stairs containing the Insignia Key.
Find The Cabinet Code
Head straight forward until you reach the other end. You will find yourself in a ‘room’ where a tall, brown cabinet will be placed against the wall to your right. A small puzzle will open up if you try to open this cabinet.
The puzzle in front of you will consist of three symbols from left to right in no specific order: a crudely drawn baby, two leaves laid down in opposite directions, and a strange drawing of an animal resembling a pig. To access the treasure inside the cabinet, you will need to find the correct pattern of these symbols.
To find the cabinet code, exit from the puzzle and head back to where you entered the manor. However, instead of going straight ahead to the locked cabinet, take the stairs to your left to the house’s upper story. Move to the right side of this corridor, and you will see a small table against the left wall and a locked door with a strange, circular groove carved in it on the right wall.
Ignoring the door for the moment, walk up to the small table on the left, and you will see a book on top of it. This is a copy of the holy book, and interacting with it will open up a small section of the text. This text will be titled “Illuminados 4:3” and read as follows:
- “In great veneration of their master, the people offered up their most prized possessions.
- The old farmer, his finest crop.
- The slight swineherd, his stoutest pig.
- The beggarly grandam, her own beloved babe.
- The master saw these gifts and was pleased.”
Figure Out the Cabinet Code
The underlined words in the above passage will appear green in the game as opposed to the simple white of the rest of the text. The passage has emphasized these specific words because they make up the cabinet code.
Now, exit the text screen and head back down the stairs to the cabinet. You now have to open the puzzle once more and arrange the symbols in the order their correlating words were written and highlighted in the text.
More specifically, arrange the symbols from left to right as such:
- Crop ( the two alternately arranged leaves.
- Pig (the crude drawing of a rotund animal with short legs)
- Babe (the stick figure drawing of a human baby)
Once you have entered the code, the lock will drop, and the cabinet will automatically open.
What Is Inside The Cabinet
Once you have opened the cabinet, you will be able to collect the treasure inside it. You will find a gray, spherical called the Crystal Marble. It may not seem like much, but it is an essential object needed to continue the game’s main story.
Once you acquire the Crystal Marble, proceed up the stairs of the house again. Once more, proceed to your right, this time moving past the small table and onto the locked door to your right. When you interact with it, you will closely examine the circular dent carved into the door’s wood. The game will now prompt you to choose one of the objects in your inventory.
Before you place any object inside it, closely observe and memorize the silver symbol you can see inside the dent. Now, you must choose the Crystal Marble to be placed in it. You must now manipulate the marble using your controls so that the pattern inside matches the symbol you can see behind it.
Once you have successfully matched the marble’s pattern with the insignia, the door will open, and you can head inside. This room has multiple objects, but the desk on your right holds the Insignia Key in its drawers. This key is required to open the “Door with Insignia” back at the Lakeside Settlement (which is to the east of the Village Chief’s Manor).
