This week, stores finally began restocking PS5s as they continue to struggle to meet demand. It seems, however, that the problems customers faced in December are returning. One scalper has claimed they managed to order 2000 PS5 units and claimed its “getting easier every time”.
The Twitter user @Carnagebot alleges to be “the first UK/EU dedicated toy and miscellaneous collectibles bot.” Followers have to be approved before viewing their stock. Oddly enough, people are not happy with the situation. Another Twitter user claims the account is now selling the units for £1,199. For reference, in the UK a PS5 digital edition should cost £359.99.
There is a possible light at the end of the tunnel though. According to Hype Beast, a Game company Spokesperson has released a statement promising to stop scalper orders. “At the present time these orders are still pre-orders and as such, no payments have yet been taken from customers,” the spokesperson said. “Payments will commence once our order checks have been completed.”
There’s of course no guarantees CarnageBot’s orders will be cancelled but at least Game is recognising there is an issue.
