Since 1987, Creative Assembly has been a well-known name in the video game industry. In June 2000, the company released Shogun: Total War for PC, which became a critical and commercial success, after which it released the Total War franchise that further increased the eminence of Creative Assembly. Since 2005, the company has been a subsidiary of SEGA Corporation and has continued to release more installments in the Total War franchise, and it seems like there’s another one in development.
Earlier today, we came across a recent job listing on the SEGA website for the Level Designer position at Creative Assembly’s studio in Sofia, Bulgaria, the description for which reads, “In this exciting opportunity, you will have the ability to impact and work on a compelling unannounced project. You will have ownership of multiple levels – both single-player and multiplayer – and the task to drive them all the way through development.” So, it seems like there’s an unannounced single-player and multiplayer game under development by Creative Assembly and SEGA.
Furthermore, one of the desirable experiences that the candidate should have mentions “experience with and understanding of Total War tactical battles,” which suggests that this unannounced project may just be another instalment in the Total War franchise. However, this isn’t all. Another recent job listing on the SEGA website is for the Environment Set Dresser position also at Creative Assembly’s studio in Sofia, Bulgaria, the description for which reads, “In this exciting opportunity, you will have the ability to impact and work on an exciting unannounced project. You will have ownership of multiple levels – both single player and multiplayer – and drive them all the way through development.”
Additionally, one of the key responsibilities that the candidate will have mentions “dressing maps (settlements and nature maps from different climate zones),” which aligns with the structure and format of the Total War franchise. While it’s not certain whether Creative Assembly and SEGA are working on another Total War installment or something else, these job listings do hint towards the former.
In February 2019, it was confirmed by Creative Assembly that the company has an unannounced new FPS IP under development. However, not much information about it has come out since then. In recent years, it seems like the company has released at least one installment to the Total War franchise every year, with the most recent one, Total War: WARHAMMER III, scheduled to release on 17th February. So, it’s likely that another installment is under development and will be released soon. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have on this unannounced project at the moment.
