The first Season Pass for Skullgirls Second Encore has been revealed, fighting game enthusiasts. The Season Pass will include the upcoming character Annie of the Stars alongside other 3 DLC characters. This announcement comes from the kind folks at Autumn Games and Hidden Variable.
Well, let’s start by talking about the Season Pass contents before anything. The Skullgirls 2nd EncoreSeason Pass 1 will be available for $34.99. Here are the contents, prices, and release dates:
New Playable Characters:
Annie – March 2021 ($9.99 separately)
Character #2 – 2021 ($9.99 separately)
Character #3 -2022 ($9.99 separately)
Character #4 – 2022 ($9.99 separately)
Season Pass 1 Exclusive Palette Pack
Skullgirls OST (Including the new Annie track) – March 2021 ($9.99 separately)
Skullgirls Digital Art Compendium (Fully updated) – march 2021 ($9.99 separately)
Every character DLC will include the character; a new stage and music; 25+ color palettes; and their own Story Mode chapter. That sounds like some good bang for your buck. In addition, as you’ve seen above, there’ll be a discount on the Season Pass to celebrate Annie’s release. Instead of $34.99, you’ll be able to get the DLC for $29.99.
Annie of the Stars Release Details
The release process for Annie will be different than usual DLC distributions in fighting games. Annie will launch in Early Access for PC (steam) in Early March. Afterward, there’ll be a full release for PS4 and PC in May. The PC version will also be updated during Annie’s inclusion. This free update will include bug fixes, quality of life changes, and balance adjustments.
Unfortunately, there are going to be some snags with other platforms. According to the FAQ:
Although ideally we would launch any new DLC on all platforms at the same time, unfortunately due to unique technical complications regarding the Nintendo Switch port, Annie will not be immediately available on that platform. We will provide an update as soon as we have an updated timetable on Switch availability.
We are not planning on releasing Annie and/or Season 1 DLC updates for the Xbox 360, PS3, or PS Vita versions. With this update, PS3 and PS Vita will NOT be able to cross play with the updated PS4 version.
Additionally, while the team is interested in bringing Skullgirls to Xbox Series/One, they don’t have any further details at the moment. Well, at the very least I know I’ll have some fun playing Annie in lobbies.
So, what do you think about the news? Are you going to get the Season Pass? Do you want to play as Annie of the Stars? Who do you think will be added to Skullgirls 2nd Encore’s roster? Tell us what you think in the comments.
