Best Types of Slimes
These are the best types of slimes due to their overall general use and aesthetic. However, two of these are for economic uses while one of these is for aesthetic purposes.
The Pink Slime is one of the best since it can make collecting the plorts of any slime easier by making it an omnivore once a Largo has been created.
Gold Slime, although it is difficult to feed and farm for, is definitely worth the headache it creates since the plort value is well up in the hundreds of coins.
Finally, we have the Tarr. These slimes are our personal favorite since they are just very aesthetically pleasing to look at both in-game and in the sprite art. Their RGB cuts of color add so much to their design it’s actually quite impressive.
Pink Slime

Name | Pink Slime |
Spawn Locations | The Rainbow Fields Starlight Strand Ember Valley Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 10 |
Plort | Pink Plort |
Diet | Fruit, Veggies, Meat |
Fav Food | None |
The pink slime is the poster child for Slime Rancher and just for that fact we can count it into the Slime Rancher 2 Slimes. These adorable little guys are described as the literal color of joy in the games’ Slimepedia.
They produce pink plorts that can be collected and sold on the market for a relatively low value, but they specialize in the Largo creation process.
Pink slimes are the only omnivorous slimes in the game so that allows them to be crossbred with other types of slimes and makes them easier to maintain.
Gold Slime

Name | Gold Slime |
Spawn Locations | Yes |
Slime Type | Special |
Def. Value | 300 |
Plort | Gold Plort |
Diet | Gilded Ginger |
Fav Food | None |
Largo-able | No |
Gordos Adventure/Casual Mode | None |
Rush Mode | 11 |
Special Behavior or Properties | •Flees from the player if it spots them, and disappears shortly after. •Will produce one plort if hit with any resource. •Exclusively eats Gilded Ginger. |
A beautiful golden little slime boy. They are super valuable but only if you have the right food for them. Golden slimes are very valuable because they produce golden plorts, the most valuable plorts in the entire game.
Golden Slimes eat Gilded Ginger which is basically gold-plated ginger and counts as a vegetable. So by this metric alone, we can say that Golden Slimes are one of the Slime Rancher 2 Best Slimes.
Tarr

Name | Tarr Slime |
Spawn Locations | Everywhere |
Slime Type | Hostile |
Spawns in Slime | When a Largo slime eats a plort that is unlike its own |
Def. Value | 300 |
Plort | Gold Plort |
Diet | Other Slimes and Ranchers |
Fav Food | Ranchers |
Largo-able | No |
Gordos | Has no Gordo form |
Special Behavior or Properties | They attack the Rancher and eat slimes. |
The black sheep among all of slime-kind, Tarr are the only naturally spawning enemy that you as the player will have to fight. These corrupted slimes are a result of Largos trying to ingest plorts that are unique from their mixture.
The result of three unique plorts mixing causes the slime to alter its biochemistry drastically and begin to wreak havoc among the other slimes.
The only way to defeat a Tarr slime is by soaking it in water or vacuuming it up and throwing it off the edge of the cliff where you found it. Although we have to admit, they do have a very cool design and the in-game model does it more justice than the sprite.
Other Types of Slimes
Each slime has specific requirements that must be met in order to keep them safely and happily in their corral. These types of slimes are not the best but they are not the worst either and honestly when it comes to these it is up to personal preference.
We will explain to you the different base slimes alongside their favorite foods and short descriptors for each of them. Alongside telling you about their plorts and which plorts combos are the best when it comes to maintaining your slimes.

Not as adorable as its sibling, the Pink slime, but definitely a mood to say the least. This little guy is always kinda grumpy which makes him way too relatable. Just by looking at this splash art, you can tell this is the face of someone who doesn’t want to do anything except contemplate life.
These little guys only eat vegetables making them one of the many herbivore slimes of the game. They have a favorite food on the other hand called the Heart Beet. It is a beet shaped like a cartoon heart.
Tabby Slime

Name | Tabby Slime |
Spawn Locations | Starlight Strand Ember Valley The Rainbow Fields |

Tabby Slime… where to even begin with this little rascal. These slimes are surprisingly similar to their real-world counterpart. These little guys love nothing more than just running around and gobbling up stray hens.
Yes, give a warm welcome to our first carnivorous slime. These guys, as mentioned before, love nothing more than a good ‘ole Stony Hen to gobble up although they can make do with any sort of meat. If you are a cat person or have a tabby cat then this will be the Slime Rancher 2 Slime for you.
Phosphor Slime

Name | Phosphor Slime |
Spawn Locations | Starlight Strand Ember Valley The Rainbow Fields Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 22 |

Diet | Fruit |
Fav Food | Cuberry |
Fav Toy | Night Light |
Gordos | 1 Phosphor Gordo |
Special Behavior or Properties | •Its wings enable it to fly. •Disappears in prolonged exposure to sunlight. |
Now we get into the fantasy-type territory when it comes to the game where slimes poop crystals. These guys are called Phosphor slimes and they are, in a word, beautiful.
Phosphor slimes only appear at night time and “evaporate” is they meet the sunlight. These slimes also fly so do keep this in mind when trying to put them in a corral without the proper upgrades.
They only eat fruits, which makes sense since that’s the only food source that’s available to them at any given point of the night.
Boom Slime

Name | Boom Slime |
Spawn Locations | Ember Valley Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Harmful |
Def. Value | 45 |
Plort | Boom Plort |
Diet | Meat |
Fav Food | Briar Hen |
Gordos | Unknown |
Special Behavior or Properties | •Explodes occasionally, telegraphed by the intensity of its core and veins, sending everything in its blast radius flying and stunning itself in the process. Explosions can be temporarily nullified with Water. •Explodes more often when agitated. |
Now, we want you to take a guess as to what the Boom Slime does. Take a random shot in the dark to guess what the BOOM Slime does. If you couldn’t guess by now then we were being very sarcastic but yes the Boom Slimes go kaboom at random times.
The sprite art is hilarious to look at since it looks like it’s getting Vietnam flashbacks. This little look of shock and horror carries over to the in-game model as well.
Although they are a welcomed edition to the carnivore slime section. Alongside this, their favorite type of meat is that from Briar Hens, naturally found in their habitat.
Crystal Slime

Name | Crystal Slime |
Spawn Locations | Ember Valley Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Harmful |
Def. Value | 60 |
Plort | Crystal Plort |
Diet | Veggies |

Special Behavior or Properties | •Damages Beatrix on contact. •Can produce crystals on the floor as a hazard. When it does so, it leaps into the air rolling into a spikey ball. •Produces crystals more frequently when agitated. •Crystals can be destroyed and production of more can be temporarily nullified with Water. |
Diamonds? Please, keep that to yourself. We only need a Crystal Slime to shine twice as brightly. These little guys are some of the most beautiful slimes you will if you like shiny rocks. Since they are basically covered in… shiny rocks.
However, they are considered a part of the herbivore family of slimes. Their personal favorite is the Odd Onion, which is an onion but just a little odd. Like you know something is off about it but you can’t quite seem to put your finger on what that oddity is.
Hunter Slime

Name | Hunter Slime |
Spawn Locations | Starlight Strand Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 60 Template: NewbuckSR2 |
Plort | Hunter Plort |
Diet | Meat |
Fav Food | Roostro |
Gordos | Unknown |
Special Behavior or Properties | •Can detect Food from further distances than other Slimes. •Can occasionally attempt to pounce at the player, indicated by wiggling before jumping in her direction. The Slime will turn invisible during its wiggle, leaving only its eyes and mouth visible. •Hunter Largo variants are always feral when created. •Hunter Largos will go feral again if they are sufficiently agitated, either from hunger or other sources. •Feral Hunter Largos can be calmed with Food or with the Taming Bell |
If you hear your trash can rustle in the middle of the night and you decide to investigate then you might be hard-pressed to find any sort of predator. Rather you would most likely come across this little rascal, aka the Hunter Slime.
These little guys have a cute little design where it looks like they are wearing a face mask to conceal their real identity but they look like the most adorable cartoon robbers we have ever seen.
They are another addition to the carnivore family of slimes with their favorite meal being a Roostro, the most chunky boy that exists as a food source.
Honey Slime

Name | Honey Slime |
Spawn Locations | Starlight Strand |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 45 |
Plort | Honey Plort |
Diet | Fruit |
Fav Food | Mint Mango |
Gordos | Unknown |
Special Behavior or Properties | •Its plorts attract Slimes from further distances than other plorts. |
Sweet and sticky, that is how we would describe the Honey Slime. They are super cute with the little honeycomb pattern on their head, or more accurately, above their eyes. Describing them more would be redundant but yeah they are super cute.
These little guys love fruits and only consume these. They love mint mangos the most maybe due to them being honey and hence related to bees who don’t go for anything that doesn’t bear fruit in the Slime Rancher universe.
Puddle Slime

Name | Puddle Slime |
Spawn Locations | Starlight Strand Ember Valley Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 45 |
Plort | Puddle Plort |
Diet | Water |
Fav Food | None |
Largo-able | No |
Gordos | None, unless modded |
Ok, what can we even say regarding the Puddle Slime? No, seriously, what can we say regarding the Puddle Slimes? They are nothing more than living water.
Their diet only consists of water and they can’t survive outside of small pools. Even their habitat isn’t a normal corral but rather a little pond where they can stay hydrated forever. At least they look cute.
Fire Slime

Name | Fire Slime |
Spawn Locations | Ember Valley |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 45 |
Plort | Fire Plort |
Diet | Ash |
Fav Food | None |

Special Behavior or Properties | •Can only survive in an Ash trough of an Incinerator. If it is anywhere else for too long, it disappears. •Its fire can be temporarily extinguished by splashing it with Water. •Food and Chickadoos that touch a burning fire slime are destroyed. Slimes that touch a burning fire slime get agitated and knocked back. |
Ok, what can we even say regarding the Fire Slime? No, seriously, what can we say regarding the Fire Slimes? They are nothing more than slime on fire.
These types of slimes are basically only able to be kept if you have an Incinerator which also provides them with their only source of food; ash. Yep, just straight-up ash. They are kind of cute but we don’t know if we can call them traditionally cute.
Lucky Slime

Name | Lucky Slime |
Spawn Locations | Yes |
Slime Type | Special |
Def. Value | N/A |
Plort | N/A |
Diet | Meat |
Fav Food | N/A |
Largo-able | No |
Gordos | None |
These are different from all other slime variants. Lucky Slimes are a different breed where they will spawn randomly and without warning anywhere and at any time. When they spawn they create a distance jingling sound that can be followed to lead you to them.
When they see you they will become stationary and now is your time to shine. You must provide them with any sort of meat, this will award you with direct money rather than plorts which can be exchanged for money.
Keep an eye out for these slimes but don’t get caught up in the wonder and let it lead you around. Many a slime farmer has gone over into the Slime Sea because they wanted to chase down Lucky Slime.
Cotton Slime

Name | Cotton Slime |
Spawns in Game | The Rainbow Fields Starlight Strand Powderfall Bluffs |
Spawn Locations | Everywhere |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 15 |
Plort | Quantum Plort |
Diet | Veggies |
Fav Food | Water Lettuce |
Fav Toy | None |
Largo-able | Yes |
Gordos | 1 |
One of the newer slimes that are included in Slime Rancher 2. These little fellas are based on the cottontail bunny. If there was ever a time someone thought bunny rabbits didn’t look cute then they are a serial killer in disguise. No doubt about it.
These little guys take after their naming scheme’s origin and only subscribe to a vegetarian diet with water lettuce being their favorite type of vegetable.
Flutter Slime

Name | Flutter Slime |
Spawns in Game | Starlight Strand |
Spawn Locations | Everywhere |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 22 |
Plort | Flutter Plort |
Diet | Nectar |
Fav Food | Moondew Nectar |
Fav Toy | None |
Largo-able | Yes |
Gordos | 1 |
These little numbers are based on butterflies and it shows very clearly in the design thanks to the wings. Now the Flutter Slime itself is not that good but what makes it better is the fact that on the right Largo combination you could make the most majestic slime that has ever existed.
Flutter Slimes have a special diet of Nectar, in particular Moondew Nectar. This is in reference to butterflies and how they don’t technically eat any food but rather suck the nectar from flowers to get their energy and nutrients.
Angler Slime

Name | Angler Slime |
Spawns in Game | Starlight Strand Ember Valley |
Spawn Locations | Everywhere |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 20 |
Plort | Angler Plort |
Diet | Meat |
Fav Food | Sea Hen |
Fav Toy | None |
Largo-able | Yes |
Gordos | 1 |
Reminiscent of the deep sea creatures we have discovered today the Angler Slime is an adorable manifestation of the bone-chilling angler fish. One surprise about this slime is that it does not require water like the Puddle Slime and can be kept in normal corrals.
This slime can stun the player and other slimes if they get too close to the little dangling light source it keeps in front of its face. These guys are also an addition to the carnivore family of slimes with its favorite being a new food source called the Sea Hen.
Batty Slime

Name | Batty Slime |
Spawns in Game | Ember Valley |
Spawn Locations | Everywhere |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 20 |
Plort | Batty Plort |
Diet | Fruit |
Fav Food | Pomegranate |
Fav Toy | None |
Largo-able | Yes |
Gordos | Yes |
A Batty Slime, also known by its pet name as the adorable vampire slime. These slimes take after general bats where they are not too fond of the daylight. This was turned into a game mechanic where the Bat Slimes get agitated when exposed to sunlight.
The best way to keep them in your collection is to have special nets that block out the sunlight. Their favorite food is Pomegranate and they only eat fruits, similar to fruit bats in our world just a bit more adorable.
Also if you didn’t catch it then we call it the vampire slime since its favorite food has the aftermath of making it look like blood has been sprayed everywhere.
Ringtail Slime

Name | Ringtail Slime |
Spawn Locations | Starlight Strand Ember Valley Powderfall Bluffs |
Slime Type | Docile |
Def. Value | 24 |
Plort | Ringtail Plort |
Diet | Meat, Veggies, Fruits |
Fav Food | None |
Largo-able | Yes |
Gordos | 1 |
Special Behavior or Properties | •Turns to stone at daybreak, and reverts back at dusk. •Will continually eat without producing plorts when it would otherwise be full, signified by a sly expression. |
So remember when we said that there was only one omnivorous slime in the game well, that was the case until the introduction of the Ringtail Slime. These little rascals are reminiscent of the Tanuki. However, they possess a special feature. During the daytime, they turn to stone statues like those in Japanese folktales.
To counteract this you could simply install a net that prevents the sunlight from getting to them and keep them producing plorts no-stop. Be careful though since these little rascals can keep on eating without producing plorts so make sure you don’t leave any food lying around since it might go to waste.
Good job! Please give your positive feedback 😏
