Team Ninja have enjoyed recent success with their Nioh series. This Japanese studio is responsible for other big titles such as Dead or Alive, Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Ninja Gaiden. What’s up their sleeve next? (Get Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity here)

Gaming news network 4Gamer conducted an end-of-the-year interview with several Japanese game devs. One of which included Team Ninja‘s very own Fumihiko Yasuda. The game director teased ‘several new titles” to be announced over the course of 2021. While this announcement is quite vague, it leaves fans speculating like crazy.

Could this ‘new title’ be another Dead or Alive entry? (Get DOA6 for 60% off here) Competition in the fighting game space is fierce, with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate making its way to next-gen consoles right away. But the name still holds weight and there are millions of dedicated fans spanning the globe. Or maybe we will finally see another Ninja Gaiden game. The last main entry of this acclaimed action-adventure series was all the way back in 2012.

Team Ninja Wants to Make a New Ninja Gaiden

As VGC reported in February 2020, the team is aware of fan demands for a new Ninja Gaiden game. Additionally, Yasuda himself observed around this time that other ninja-themed games were seeing success. This includes Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Ghost of Tsushima. He informed IGN in February that “[t]he core members of the team that worked on Ninja Gaiden want to make a new game.” Luckily for fans, this also implies that they can count on an authentic Ninja Gaiden experience.

The next big step for Team Ninja will be the re-release of Nioh 2, launching on PC and PS5 on February 5th. This version will support beautiful 4K 120fps performance and take full advantage of the new hardware. This is sure to introduce some new gamers to Team Ninja and generate some hype to surround the ongoing projects of this developer.(Get Nioh 2 for only $10! here)
