Wargaming Developing New AAA Free-To-Play Online Game
Since 2009, Wargaming has been focused on developing free-to-play online games across all platforms. In 2010, the company released World of Tanks and has continued to release online multiplayer action games since, with its most recent release being Bowling Crew on Android and iOS devices in 2020. While the company hasn’t released anything for a couple of years now, it seems like that’s about to change, as Wargaming now has an unannounced new AAA free-to-play online game under development.
Earlier today, we came across a recent job listing on the Wargaming website for the Senior Product Marketing Manager position at the company’s Prague studio in the Czech Republic, the description for which reads, “Does the challenge of launching an exciting AAA Free to Play game excite you? We are looking for a new colleague in our amazing Prague office to help define and execute a product marketing strategy for our new unannounced product.” Furthermore, one of the responsibilities that the candidate will have mentions working “closely with Publishing, Project Managers, Live Ops, Content teams and Global PR, to define and then increase product KPIs,” which suggests that the unannounced game will be an online multiplayer one.
In addition to this, one of the requirements for the job listing states a “strong knowledge of F2P video games advertising, platform advertising including PC (Steam, Epic etc.) and console environments (PS4, Xbox, etc.),” which means that this unannounced new game from Wargaming will be released across consoles and PC. However, there’s no mention of mobile devices anywhere in the job listing, so it’s uncertain whether the game will be released on mobile devices or not.
Of course, Wargaming has announced that it has a couple of unannounced projects under development, including a new IP. “While World of Tanks Blitz is our most renowned title, we are also developing the mobile naval online action game World of Warships Blitz and two more unannounced action/shooter projects, including a new IP. World of Tanks Blitz and World of Warships Blitz are run on their own proprietary game engines, while the new projects are being developed on Unreal Engine,” states one of the frequently asked questions on the company’s website. However, we don’t have any further information on either of these unannounced projects besides this.
Based on the recent job listing, we now know that one of the unannounced projects from Wargaming is a AAA free-to-play online multiplayer game for consoles and PC. Unfortunately, this is all the details we have at the moment. Over time, we expect the company to release some more information about these unannounced projects, as they seem rather promising.
